I am Dr. Eddie L. Kornegay, Jr,  the Republican Candidate for State Representative for Illinois’s 7th District where my opponent is the current Speaker of the House, Chris Welch. I’m running on a miracle: a miracle that saw my step-son survive a violent car- jacking just blocks from our home in Forest Park. He survived, but he has suffered from being a victim of the unchecked violence and criminality that is increasing due to laws passed by our Democratic-led Legislature.

 

We need someone who knows first-hand the negative impact the dangerous and out-of- touch policies have on the safety of our communities. Out-of-touch legislation put my stepson and so many others in harm’s way.  I know that the people of my district are concerned about their ability to raise and educate their children and how Illinois’ high taxes burden the ability of businesses, large and small, to thrive and grow. I am ready to turn the momentum of my stepson’s miracle moment into a new era of commonsense solutions in Springfield.
